Don’t Forget to “Just Listen” to Soundview Live today!

Just wanted to post a reminder to everyone that today is our Soundview Live event with Dr. Mark Goulston, the author of Get Out of Your Own Way at Work, Get Out of Your Own Way, and the book he’ll be discussing today Just Listen: Discover the Secret to Getting Through to Absolutely Anyone.

Also, three important reminders about today’s Soundview Live event:

1. Please try to submit your questions early. We understand that it’s difficult to break away from the author’s great presentation but if there is a specific issue in your organization that you’d like Dr. Goulston to help you solve, please send it to us early in the event. Today’s event is scheduled to feature two rounds of Q&A, one at the mid-point of the Webinar and a second during the last 10 minutes. Just a friendly caution that we tend to get dozens of questions in the last five minutes, so to help us make sure that your issue gets addressed, try to submit it earlier in the event.

2. If you feel like you missed something during the presentation or want to take a closer look at Dr. Goulston’s presentation, you can save yourself the hassle of having to send us a message. Relax and enjoy the presentation! You’ll receive an e-mail within three to five business days with a copy of the presentation as well as a link to listen to the event again.

3. If, for any reason, you experience audio issues at the start of the event, our best advice is to log out of the player and log-in again. Also, don’t forget to test your system at least one hour before the event!

Book Review: Enchantment

If you follow Soundview on Twitter (@businessbooks), you’ll notice that one of the individuals that we follow is Guy Kawasaki. The author, blogger, venture capital veteran and one-time Apple evangelist knows the secret to making an audience happy. He is endlessly engaging and provides an incredible volume of material in any project on which he works. His latest book Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds and Actions (now available as a summary at Summary.com) is the latest in a string of must-read material from one of the people that spread the gospel of the Macintosh back in 1984.

If there is one word that describes Kawasaki, whether in print or in person, it’s “genuine.” This personal trait makes Kawasaki the perfect instructor to help any executive understand the keys to enchanting any individual or group. He stresses at the outset of the book that Enchantment is intended for individuals who want to make a difference and improve the world. Enchantment, already one of the best business books of 2011, will continue to impress readers each time they refer to it … and they certainly will.

Three Key Tips for Soundview Live

Tomorrow’s Soundview Live event with Howard Guttman, “Building Great Business Teams,” is generating a lot of interest. I’ve received a few messages with questions about tomorrow’s event. I thought the best idea would be to provide a few tips for anyone attending the Webinar.

1. Don’t forget, tomorrow’s event starts at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. This is a change from our usual start time. Try to log-in to the event early and don’t forget to test your system to make sure it’s compatible with the Webinar player.

2. As we state at the outset of every event, the best Soundview Live Webinars are driven by the questions that are submitted by you, the audience. As the moderator, I can offer one very important tip: submit your questions as soon as you have them. We run into situations from time to time in which the audience waits until the final 10 minutes to submit their questions. The sad fact is that we’re often unable to address some fantastic questions because they were submitted with only seconds remaining. Soundview Live is your best opportunity to have a best-selling author directly address issues that your organization is experiencing. To help us make sure that your question has the chance to be posed to the author, please submit them early in the broadcast.

3. If you miss something during the course of the event, you will be sent an e-mail within a few days of the Webinar. The e-mail will contain a link to download an archived recording of the Soundview Live you attended.
